The House of Vans located in Greenpoint Brooklyn has made some changes for 2014. They’ve changed up the bowl and added some new toys to the street course. We were stoked to get invited to the reopening party last Thursday evening where everyone got skate the new stuff, listened to John Cardiel aka “Juan Love” and John Igei DJ and enjoy some tasty food via The Meatball Shop. The House of Vans will open to the public next Wednesday (1/29/2014) and run a weekly open skate and open mic every Wednesday up until 4/2/2014. Peep the new HOV via photos and our introduction clip embedded below.

Anyone can take a shot, you need to email [email protected]. He’s setting up the schedule and backline.
ummm, why don’t you guys or should I say “HOV” do away with all this hipster banjo crap and start having local skate punk bands play at the HOV??? you know? Like how we all were able to discover all those great bands we’ve come to love through skateboarding?( Descendents, firehose, minutemen, black flag, sub society??) Skaters don’t wanna hear a dude plucking a banjo, or playing a flute.. seriously.
From what we’ve seen open mic is open to everything. If you have a band in mind have them email the address on the flyer.
